Happy Halloween

Every year the apartment complex holds a little Halloween party outside in a central courtyard for the kids. It's usually a few days before the 31st and of course always at night. The biggest highlights, of course, are the costumes.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Sami!

On October 14th Sam turned 2 and a few friends from our area came over for the celebration.

I was in Vancouver (citizenship fingerprints request) for the actual party but Ericka took plenty of photos.

Sports Festival

Like all schools in Japan, both public and private, late fall is time for the annual Sports Festival event. Basically a chance for the students to participate in mass games, dances and other "performing sports" displays.

This is a picture of Sam at the sporting event held at my school about 2 weeks ago.

Miki's school held its annual Sports Festival back in early October.

Little Dutch Girl

Remember those paint (or was it furniture?) commercials for Little Dutch Boy? Well, Sam got her hair cut a few weeks back and we can't shake the similarity. All in all, it looks cute and she loved the whole process; still talks about it in fact.

Ikebana

A woman who we know thru Miki's school (her son also goes to Montessori) teaches Ikebana: the Japanese art of flower arranging. Since Miki is absolutely infatuated with the botanical world, we figured why not?
