Summer with cousins, grandparents, aunts & uncles

This summer has passed, already and unfortunately, into the realm of somewhat-distant memories. Lucky for us all, we have photographs.

On July 15th I "escorted" 3/4 of my family to the airport in Tokyo for a 6 week vacation on the east coast of the U.S.

First stop: Nana & Pop's house in Delaware. While visiting them Miki & Sam also got a chance to hang out with cousins Evann and Sully as well as second cousins on Ericka's side of the family.

Second stop: Vermont to visit Grammy & Gramps for the better part of 4 weeks.

I remained behind in Tokyo for another week before departing at the end of July for British Columbia.

Due to the sheer quantity (and time constraints imposed upon a father with 2 young girls trying to find the time to update this blog) the photos in this post are not in chronological order. Nonetheless, I'm sure you get the idea.

Snowbirds

They're called Snowbirds; Canada's equivalency of the Blue Angeles, basically. And they made a "fly by" of Nanaimo a few evenings ago. Lucky for me I parked next to a fellow photographer who was kind enough to let me shoot a few frames from his 300mm lens.

Overnight Paddle

I took a group of 8 students sea kayaking 2 weeks ago to an island just off shore of the Nanaimo Harbour. We spent one night camping under the stars and everyone enjoyed it immensely. Nice weather, no injuries and great photo opportunities.

Holden Lake - twilight

One evening I found myself with some down time and the photographer's magical hour of sunset light beckoning me to Holden Lake.

This is part of my Photo Club summer homework assignment: take lots of photos.
